I do not want Activesync to start when Windows XP starts up and consequently
run whenever the device (HP6828) is connected. I have unticked the box "open
ActiveSync when my device connects" option in the connection settings tab
with no results. I have also been unable to find the program listed in the
"Startup" category or in the "Windows StartUp Configurator" under the tab
"StartUp". Clearly this is a program error. I wish to do my updated when I
want to and to therefore manual update option.
My operating system is Windows XP Home and I am using ActiveSync 4.2.
Assistance appreciated.

Hi Sandra,

The "open ActiveSync when my device connects" option refers to whether or
not ActiveSync window should appear when the device is connected.
Unfortunately, the manual sync option is no longer available when a WM 5.0
mobile device is connected.

I agree that it's a pita, but there are no acceptable options... fwiw, I
have some kludge batch/registry file options posted at
http://BevHoward.com/ASync.htm#WCESCOMM which will help keep it at bay.
