Hi,

* Did you installed any third party app on your PPC which might be causing
this problem?
* Did you try a reset (soft / hard) ?

Hi,

Backup your device and perform a hard reset. Don't restore it or sync it
with the computer for a short while and see if you are able to notice any
time loss.

Do you have it set to sync the time with your PC? If you do and your PC
time is incorrect, whenever you sync the device the time will be changed
to the incorrect PC time.

Well, in that case, take a look the next time you cradle your PPC. Note the
time before you sync and shortly thereafter. You may have the timezones set
differently. For comparison my 2215 spends days off the cradle at times and
never loses a second. There's something set wrong, or it's broken. Has it
always done this, and it took you four months to complain ;) or is this a
new thing?

FWIW, my 2215 has always lost a little time, about a minute a day. I almost
never connect it to the PC unless I need to install something, and I do soft
resets several times throughout the day if necessary. It loses time whether
I use it or not. I just reset the clock every few days by adding a minute or
two, so it matches my radio-controlled clock, which I assume is as accurate
as I can ever get.....

Hi Sven,

As soon as I cradle my 2200, it immediately adjusts the time on my 2200 to
the correct time on my PC. It stays perfectly on time until after I
uncradle it, and leave it on, say, my nightstand overnight. I wake up in
the morning and its 20 minutes to 5 hours off (usually behind).

This is the third iPaq 2200 I've had in 6 months. Every time I complain to
HP, they've sent me a brand new one. There MUST be something wrong with my
settings, because I'm sure HP didn't build three in a row that had
hardware/firmware problems!

That's bizarre. I have several PPCs and so they don't all get cradled every
night except for my 4155, which is my day-to-day one. The 2215 has been off
the cradle laying on my desk for most of the week. I've turned it on now and
again to check something or other, but mostly it's been in standby. It's
down to 66% power, from the times I've used it, and the normal keep alive
drain, but the time is within 20sec of my PC. Do you have any interesting
software installed? Are you game to back it up, hard reset and see if a
clean PPC has the same problem? If so, I'm baffled and you can restore. If
not, then you can look for what app is at fault.

The only non PPC2003 software I have on my iPaq 2200 is Microsoft's Best of
Entertainment pack (6-7 small games) and AvantGo.

Any problems with these?

I just did a complete Hard-reset of the iPaq last night and did NOT
reinstall any games (other than Solitaire and Jawbreaker which seem to come
with PPC2003).

The iPaq lost 2 hours on it's clock this morning...

No, it hasn't taken me four months to complain. As I mentioned before, HP

they can't keep the time correctly...

A damn $20 Casio watch keeps time correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a response to your initial post which didn't include that info. I'm
frankly baffled, especially if this is relatively constantly inconsistent
for you over several devices. It's not something I have heard complained
about much, if ever. As I said, mine seems to be fine, as are my other PPCs.
I just looked at my 2215 again, last sync was over four days ago, and it may
have been charged in between, but the clock is currently 12 secs off with my
PC.

Your post reminded me that a while ago I noticed that the time on my
ipaq (2210) was often way off what it should be. Of course with the
many other crap behaviors I had from the pocketpc it wasn't a priority
to look into it, 'cos anyway, there was other crap too. Now that I
just looked at its time, although I activesynced just a few hours ago,
it was 43 minutes behind desktop time!

There's no end to the crap!

This is exactly what happens to me, only in my case I use the alarms on my
iPaq to remind me of critical medication I must take 4 times a day.
Needless to say, the iPaq's timekeeping problems have rendered this useless,
so I've had to resort to a $40 Casio watch with 5 alarms on it!

But I still want to solve my iPaq's problem. For $400, it ought to be able
to keep time as well as a $40 watch!

Can anyone help? My new (4 months old) iPaq 2200 keeps losing time
(hours a day, although not always consistently).
Batteries are new, fully charged...
There's no end to the crap!

well, sounds like it's busted, have you tried a hard reset ?? if yes and it
still does it, I would look into getting it repaired, replaced. not sure
what warranty you have (as I think the default is 90 days) - sux to be you
!! ;-) sorry

Of course I synch it with my PC which maintains perfect time......
