I installed .Net Framework 3.5 and sice then AS 4.5 will not wirk. It loads
and connects to my HTC WM 6.1 device, but the WCESMgr interface will not
open.

The fill message is: The application Failed to initialize properly
(0cxc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I have uninstalled AS and deleted all folders, rebooted and reinstalled
without success.

Can anyone help please.

You are not alone, unfortunately I've read your post after an update. I've also just accepted an update from Microsoft and now Active Sync 4.5 will no longer work on my XP computer, that worked without problms previously (it does still work on my other computer running XP that has not had a Microsoft update). "WCESMgr.EXE application error: Application Failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)"appars whenever I attempt to sync, or just open Active Sync. Repair does not work. Removal and reinstall does not work. Stopping anti-virus &/or firewall (Zone Alarm 2010) does not work. Running a registry cleaner/ repair tool does not work.
I have come across some people who have tried to uninstall NET framework and eventually reinstall...this seems to creat aven bigger problems. Microsoft web site seems to offer no solutions or information (yet) for error code 0xc0150002. Does anyone have any possible soultions,or work around ?

I forgot about my original post as there was no response.

I did indeed go through the pain of uninstalling .Net 3.5 which then seemed to corrupt .Net altogether cusing a lot of issues. I eventually reinstalled .Net 2.0 and allowed XP to upgrade with automatic update and it seemed to sort itself out. I am not saying this is the way to go but I cannot offer anything more positive!

I somtimes wonder if the time wasted trying to sort out Microsoft created isses is worth the time and effort?

RE:Active Sync 4.5 WCESMGR.exe application failed to initialize error
0xc0150002
------------
I've got Active Sync again (but 4.2, not 4.5). Up and running in
moments, and works fine.
I don't know if this will help you, but it was an acceptable work-
around for me. Delete Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 using "Add & Remove
Programs", and then restart your computer. Chances are that a
Microsoft Active Sync folder will again appear in your Program Files
(My Computer>R Click> Explore> Local Disk (C)>Program Files>Microsoft
Active Sync.). I created a folder on my desktop and named it OLD AS,
then I dragged the Microsoft Active Sync folder from the Program Files
(as noted above) and dropped it into the desktop folder (just in
case). Additionally, Microsoft had a little info. Indicating that even
after Active Sync 4.5 is (supposedly) removed from a PC a dynamic-link
library file might still be in your system preventing a new install,
and if so it will need to be removed manually. Although I did not need
to do this; if I had I would have also dragged it into another new
desktop folder. Supposedly, to completely remove Active Sync 4.5,
"Rapi.dll" needs to be removed from the System32 directory (My
Computer>R-Click>Explore>Local Disk (C)>Windows>System32>Rapi.dll). I
also removed my "Mobile Favorites" folder to my desktop (My Computer>R-
Click>Explore>Local Disk (C)>Documents and Settings>User/
myself>Favorites>Mobile Favorites). Then, WITHOUT restarting my
computer I installed an earlier version of Active Sync. I installed
Active Sync 4.2 and it was up and running in moments without problems.
Of note, I had previously installed Adobe Reader 2.0 for Pocket PC
(and found it in the OLD Microsoft Active Sync folder on my desktop),
although it might be possible to just return the Adobe folder into the
NEW Active Sync 4.2 folder (found in Program Files), I just
reinstalled the Adobe Reader for Pocket PC. .Also, before I attempted
to install Active Sync 4.2, I set my email from Outlook Express to
OUTLOOK as it seemed to make the install smoother ( Control
Panel>Internet Options>Tools>"Program" tab>Email>Outlook), just
remember to set your default email back to your preference after you
reinstall Active Sync.

This was the address I downloaded Active Sync 4.2 from Microsoft,
(though a simple Google search of Active Sync 4.2 provides many
others, as well as even earlier versions of Active Sync):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7269173a-28bf-4cac-a682-58d3233efb4c&displaylang=en

Some additional information that might be of use (though I did not
need to do this for the 4.2 install), Microsoft info. also indicated
that it's useful to make sure that your firewall is configured to
allow for Active Sync by making sure that it does allows/does not
block: Active Sync, WCESComm.exe, WCESComm, Rapimgr.exe, CEAPPMGR.exe,
and suggested that it might also be necessary to go to your firewall
and add "Expert" Rules that would basically be: (Protocol=TCP,
Description=Active Sync TCP, Destination= Other, any, Source Port=
Other, any).. Also, additional info. suggested you verify that the
Active Sync “Profile” folder in Application Data folder is also
deleted at uninstall, and correct for your device at reinstall (My
Computer>R-Click>Explore>Documents and Settings>user>Application
Data>Microsoft>Active Sync>Profiles>”your specific device/PDA/Pocket
PC”). Additionally check Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and verify no
“WCESComm” is running (after removal of Active Sync), or only one
“WCESComm is running (after reinstall of Active Sync). Although I did
not have to do this some info. Suggested that another possible reason
that Active Sync might not run properly (or at all) is if there is
more than one “mapi32.dll” file. If the above does not work for you a
Google search :”Active Sync Repair” brings up some useful information.
Also some other possible alternatives I found that might replace
Active Sync are Easy Sync, Good Sync and Hot Sync (but I don’t really
know how well they might function).

I'm still not able to use Active Sync 4.5 (it will install, but will
not start), but 4.2 works fine and I'm again able to update my
calendar, read e-books & docs, etc. on my Pocket PC. I do wish someone
would design a program to replace Active Sync; it would also be nice
if it did not require having to purchase and install Outlook. Perhaps
some day someone will design something using Open Office to sync PDA/
Pocket PC to PC.. Hope this helps.
