Hi,
Just to note that the 'fixmapi.exe' suggestion made by one of the previous posters has worked for me.
It didn't work the first time with all the applications open, but then I closed Outlook, WMDC and mobsync and then I ran it again, and this time it worked.
Thanks for your help.

Well sorry to say that after 2 days with perfect syncing it's gone back to the same problem.
I'm seriously thinking of claiming Microsoft for lost productivity, not only with WMDC but Vista in general.
So now I'm installing a 3rd party sync application and hope I get some work done!

I have a problem setting up what Outlook items to sync in WMDC. All the
Outlook items are greyed out and underneath each item it says "Outlook has
not been installed." Outlook 2007 is indeed installed. I uninstalled both
Outlook and GroupWise, apparently there must be some sort of mapi conflict
that I'm not sure how to resolve. I then reinstalled both Outlook and
GroupWise, checking WMDC after each reinstall. Even with no trace of
GroupWise on the computer, WMDC still said that Outlook was not installed
and therefore could not select which items to sync. BTW, both Outlook and
GroupWise work fine together on the same machine as I've setup a second
profile for Outlook. I made sure to clear out any GroupWise entries in the
mail settings in the control panel during my troubleshooting...no dice
This is a Vista Business laptop - Dell Vostro 1700
Any ideas on how to get the pda syncing with Outlook again
Thanks

I don't have GroupWise (nor know what it is) but have the same problem. I am

intermittent issue. Even though it says "Outlook has not been installed",
about 60% of times my stuff does get synced. Not able to see any pattern,
though. Since it now says "Outlook has not been installed" below each of the
Outlook items, and I am sure I was able to select those back in April when I
initially set up the relationship, it is my guess that something got screwed
up in later updates - either of Outlook or of WDMC.
I will start to dig into Registry now to see if I am able to find something

SYMPTOMS
When you click Start, and then click E-mail Microsoft Outlook, you may
receive the following message:
Microsoft Outlook has not been installed for the current user. Please run
setup to install the application.
Note When this problem occurs, there will not be any other Office 2003
shortcuts installed.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when Office 2003 is installed on a per-user basis and
you logon to the computer as a user other than the user who installed Office
2003.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, logon to your computer with administrator rights
and remove Office 2003. Install Office 2003 without using the allusers=""
command-line option. For example, double-click the Setup.exe file on the
Office 2003 CD-ROM. This will install Office 2003 for all users of the
computer.
If you do not want all users of the computer to have access to Office 2003,
follow these steps: 1. Temporarily grant each user who you want to have
Administrator rights.
2. Log on to the computer as the appropriate user.
3. Install Office 2003 on a per-user basis.
After the installation is complete, you can log off and reconfigure the
user's regular credentials.

MORE INFORMATION
To install Office 2003 on a per-user basis, use a setup command line similar
to the following example:
"path\Setup.exe" allusers=""
For more information about setup options when you install Office 2003
programs by using the command line, see the Setup.htm file on your Microsoft
Office 2003 CD-ROM.

This has been a big problem for me since the transition from XP to Vista Home Premium. Like many others I have ploughed the internet to find the solution and hopefully I've got it to work! This is what I did:
Outlook 2007 was installed
I connected my TyTn II as instructed and installed WMDC. First time sync went fine, subsequent said Outlook has not been installed and all my contacts and calender entries were deleted from the device.
Solution:
Check Outlook for errors and let it repair. (Found in the 'Help' menu.
Disconnect device and delete the partnership.
Uninstall WMDC completely.
Reboot device and PC. DO NOT CONNECT!
Run Outlook install (CD or setup file) and choose repair.
Reboot PC
Use a program that allows you to edit the registry on the device. I use MemMaid from Dinar soft. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/ActiveSync/partners and delete any and all sub folders to that. (Do not delete the Parters folder!) Save the changes and reboot the device.
Reconnect the device and install WMDC. Upon completion of the install WMDC will start automatically and you can create a new partnership.
The new sync will perform and HOPEFULLY all new syncs. I've made changes to the contacts and calender, rebooted the PC and the device and all is working as it should. (Famous last words ha ha!)
